-Je Reste~!-

Was at Alliance Francaise tonight to catch Je Reste! Was pleasantly surprised to bump into Jaya who was there for his French lessons. Flashback: 1 month back to NYDC Wheelock Place talking about Les Choristes with him. Hee...

Came away feeling that I truly enjoyed the evening. How many times do I walk away feeling inspired to pick up French? Really got an urge to ask Jaya how to enrol for classes. ;p

The movie itself was really full of twists. At the begining I truly wanted to slap the male protagonist being the true blue MCP. I really could not stand how he was ordering his wife about and having dalliances all the time and not appreciating her. The turning point came when she met a scriptwriter and fell in love with him. Suddenly emboldened, she files for divorce and embarks on her new career as a decorator.

Herein starts the story. Husband tries to win wife back, fails and enlists help of lover. The scene is indeed comical at this point in time as husband and lover go cycling together and plot how to win wife back. Wife gets irritated and finally decides to leave both.

Last scene: wife is with American man and seems on verge of giving up on both husband and lover. Husband finally says the three magical words: I love you. Dumps his bicycle into a nearby pool. Hm..isn't this reminscient of guys who are obsessed with cars? Hee... Tells her that there is one single thing he can never erase and cannot live without. Husband and wife reconcile, leaving lover staring at them in background.

I like the story as it shows that woman can be strong too. It's really funny how sometimes we look so fragile but when the circumstances require it, a strong woman is moulded. "Fraility thy name is woman" -- Hamlet. Perhaps Hamlet was wrong after all.
